About Atticus Events

Atticus Events own and operate two world class Business Meetings Forums for the Hospitality Interior Design sector - HI Design EMEA and HI Design ASIA. HI Design EMEA was staged for the first time in Stockholm in 2006, and serves many of the key people involved in the design and build of quality hotels throughout the EMEA region.

HI Design ASIA made it's debut in Penang in 2009, and serves the same function in the Asia Pacific region. Both events provide an annual opportunity for hotel owner/operators, interior designers/architects, procurement specialists and Hospitality F,F&E manufacturers to explore best design solutions for these projects – be they new builds or major refurbishments.

Atticus Events was founded in 2007 by Jonathan Needs and James Burke, following the acquisition by Questex Media Group of their previous company, Pelican Events, which they formed in 2000. Jonathan, James and their small, loyal team at Pelican Events gained a highly respected reputation in Hotel Operations forums through their ownership and operation of two HOTEC events.

Having founded and run HOTEC Asia from 2001-2008, and HOTEC Middle East from 2004-2008, Jonathan and James sold Pelican with these two events to Questex - the owner/operator of the two remaining HOTEC events – Europe and North America.

Now, with the same small team, Jonathan and James have built up a similar reputation in the Hospitality Design and Build sector in the two regions that they serve. Delegates who attend their HI-DESIGN forums consistently rate their experiences as being 'Excellent investments of time' or 'Highly Effective'.

Atticus's objective is to deliver events that are truly worthwhile for all participants, as well as being fun. Above all, they strive to exceed the expectations of all their clients.

About the HI-Design concept

Each HI Design event follows the same tried and tested format that Atticus / Pelican have employed and fine tuned over the last 11 years. A meticulously planned schedule, run with precision timing, ensures the perfect balance of activity during the packed two and a half days of the event. Pre-planned Meetings, Highly informative Seminars, Supplier Showcase, Buyer Networking Session and numerous other Networking Opportunities make up the critical mix of these unique events.

Held in a top hotel in a new location each year, HI Design forums allow delegates to conduct their business in perfect surroundings outside of their normal working environment – creating a highly conducive environment for all to achieve their objectives, and in a way that is simply not possible with traditional exhibitions or conferences.

Meet the Team

Having worked together as a team for many years, our individual roles are clearly defined, and this experience is used for the benefit of our delegates. We take pride in providing all delegates with a seamless service, from initial contact up to the event itself. This helps to ensure that not only is time maximised, but also the experience is fun.
